BACKGROUND: Since December 2001, the Connecticut "G" Scalers have displayed their trains in the exhibition hall of the Barnum Museum as part of the museum's holiday celebrations. For those unfamiliar with the museum, it is the only museum to celebrate one of Bridgeport, CT's most famous residents - P. T. Barnum. Barnum's claim to fame was not only the Barnum & Bailey Circus - he had been a businessman, philanthropist, impresario and politician. At one time, he was mayor of the city! Today's museum houses a myriad of objects - including some of Barnum's most talked about attractions - the famed Fiji Mermaid, an actual Egyptian mummy, artifacts from Chang and Eng, Tom Thumb and many other characters associated with Barnum's fascinating life. You can find the Barnum Museum tucked away in the shadow of the high rises of modern Bridgeport. For further information, go to http://www.barnum-museum.org Now, on with the rest of the show! Next
